Oct. 18, 1934: The first soccer night game under the lights in St. Louis sees the Central Brewers play Hellrung-Grimms at Normandy High School in a St. Louis League match. The Central Brewers, who had won the National Challenge Cup (today’s Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup) the previous two seasons as Stix, Baer & Fuller, win the night match and will go on to win another National Challenge Cup in the spring of 1935.
