October 13th (2007)
Oct. 13, 2007: It’s a day of firsts for soccer in St. Louis. In the first-ever soccer match at the Edward Jones Dome, Lori Chalupny comes home for the first time as a member of the U.S. Women’s National Team and plays the opening 84 minutes of a 5-1 victory over Mexico in an international friendly before 10,861 fans. Chalupny nearly nets a goal in the 65th minute, but her shot goes just wide of the far corner. “It feels so good to get back home and play,” Chalupny says afterward. “This is a great crowd that came out to the game . . . we were able to get a nice victory for them and get some fun goals.”
