In a gathering of future hall of famers at The Arena, Preki’s third-quarter goal gives the St. Louis Storm a 5-0 lead over the Tacoma Stars before 6,294 fans. His 53rd goal of the season seems to be icing on the cake, but the Stars score four unanswered goals before time runs out. Preki, a future U.S. Soccer Hall of Famer, also has an assist. Fernando Clavijo, another future U.S. Soccer Hall of Famer, has 2 assists for the Storm, and future Indoor Soccer Hall of Famer Daryl Doran scores a goal. Storm goalkeeper Zoltan Toth, a future Indoor Soccer Hall of Famer, survives a 13-shot barrage from Tacoma in the fourth quarter. The Storm are coached by Don Popovic, another future Indoor Soccer Hall of Famer. The Storm win their 11thconsecutive game at home and run their record to 25-16. The Storm will finish the regular season with a 32-20 record, good for second place in the Major Soccer League’s Western Division. The Storm will win the best-of-three division semifinals 2 games to 1 over Tacoma, then lose in the division finals to eventual MSL champion San Diego 4 games to 1.
