St. Louisan Steve Ralston scores as the United States blasts Cuba, 5-0, in the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Gold Cup in Foxboro, Mass. Landon Donovan steals the show — and another goal from Ralston — by scoring the rest of the U.S. goals. On his final goal, Donovan steps in front of Ralston to score. “He said, ‘What . . . are you doing? Why are you stealing my ball?” Donovan says after the match. The U.S. men will go on to lose a memorable semifinal match to Brazil, 2-1, on July 23 in Miami. Ahead 1-0 on a 62nd-minute tally by Carlos Bocanegra, the U.S. gives up the tying goal to Kaka in the 89th minute. Diego converts a penalty kick for the winner in the 100th minute of added extra time.
