July 18 (1993)
An era in St. Louis soccer history ends as Scott Gallagher loses, 2-1, in U.S. Amateur Cup final to Seattle Murphy’s Pub in Indianapolis. Craig Frederking (pictured), the all-time leading scorer in the history of men’s soccer at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, tallies Scott Gallagher’s only goal. Future U.S. National Team player Jason Dunn scores both goals for the winners. A two-time All-American, Dunn will help Seattle Pacific win the NCAA Division II championship in 1993. Scott Gallagher, the 1991 U.S. Amateur Cup champion, is the last St. Louis team to reach the Amateur Cup finals. Starting in 1952, St. Louis teams won 12 Amateur Cups. Kutis won seven, and their predecessor team, the Raiders, captured one.
