A gathering of 54,184, at the time the largest ever for a soccer match in Missouri, sees Real Madrid defeat Inter Milan, 3-0, at the Edward Jones Dome. The turnout is the second huge crowd in less than three months to watch international soccer in St. Louis. The largest crowd to watch a sporting event at Busch Stadium (a record since broken) — 48,263 — was on hand for a friendly matching Chelsea against Manchester City on May 23. At the Jones Dome, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka score. Real Madrid gets another on an own goal by Inter’s Ricky Alvarez. The attendance at the Jones Dome breaks the previous record for match in Missouri, 52,424, when Manchester United lost, 2-1, to the Kansas City Wizards at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on July 25, 2010.
