Tom Knapp’s three goals power Florissant Valley Community College to a 6-2 victory over Miami-Dade South in the NJCAA championship game in Miami. Knapp, who played on the 1964 Kutis National Junior Cup champions, joined Florissant Valley after distinguished service in Vietnam. Knapp received the Bronze Star w/Valor, the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Purple Heart as a door gunner on a Huey helicopter during his tour of duty. Knapp scores five goals in the NJCAA tournament and is named the tourney’s most valuable forward. Tim Rooney, Bob O’Leary and Mike Margulis also score in the championship game for the Norsemen, who finish the season with a 13-1 record. The Norsemen outshoot Miami-Dade South 47-6 and win their second NJCAA title in three years.
