Florissant Valley Community College’s men rule the junior college soccer world again, winning the NJCAA championship, while the women finish as runners-up in the NJCAA championship tournaments in Trenton, N.J. The men defeat Essex Community College of Baltimore, 2-0, with both goals coming in the second half from Scott Swain. The title is the Norsemen’s 10th NJCAA championship, all under head coach Pete Sorber. Their previous championship came in 1987. Meanwhile, Flo Valley’s Norsewomen fall short in their defense of their 1988 title by losing, 1-0, to Monroe Community College of Rochester, N.Y., despite a 20-3 advantage in shots.
