St. Louis native Josh Sargent becomes the youngest player to score for the United States in the U-20 World Cup with two goals against Ecuador in a 3-3 draw. Sargent, who turned 17 on Feb. 20, will win the Silver Boot as the tournament’s second-leading scorer. It will be a breakthrough year for Sargent, who also scores five goals in the U-17 World Cup. He will be called up to the senior U.S. Men’s National Team camp on Nov. 7, making him the first player in U.S. soccer history to participate in U-17, U-20 and USMNT camps in the same year. He will play in his first USMNT match on May 28, 2018, and will score a goal against Bolivia. Sargent will go on to score five goals in 23 USMNT matches. He will become the first St. Louisan to score in an English Premier League game and will play in the 2022 World Cup.
