Future U.S. Soccer Hall of Famer Harry Ratican is born. He will become one of the greatest players in St. Louis soccer history. A product of Christian Brothers College, a veritable factory for top soccer players at a time when CBC was an elementary school, high school and college for males, Ratican will be a high-scoring forward whose services will be sought by the best teams in the nation. Ratican will play on National Challenge Cup winners with Eastern teams Bethlehem Steel and Robins Dry Dock, and will coach the soccer team at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Ratican will be inducted in the U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame’s inaugural class of 1950.
