The University of Missouri-St. Louis, the first major St. Louis college or university to field women’s soccer in 1981, lands four players on All-America teams for the 1982 season: Joan Gettemeyer and Patty Kelley are named to the first team; Joan’s twin sister, Jan, is named to the second team; and Sue Reichert makes the third team. UMSL finished fourth in the 1982 NCAA national tournament, compiled a 16-2-1 record, and defeated defending national champion North Carolina during the regular season.
