St. Louisan Julie King sets the Boston Breakers’ record for most games played. A defender, King joined the Breakers in 2012, when there was no U.S. women’s professional league following the demise of Women’s Professional Soccer in 2011. The Breakers played in the Women’s Premier Soccer League Elite division in 2012, then became an original member of the National Women’s Soccer League in 2013. King started all 21 Breakers’ matches in 2013. Injuries limited her to 17 starts in 2014. She plays 95 games for the Breakers through the 2017 season, after which the Breakers fold. She will be picked by the North Carolina Courage in the dispersal draft, but ankle surgery will keep her out of the 2018 season. She will join the Orlando Pride after being released by the Courage in 2019 and will play two games with Orlando. She will end her NWSL career in 2020 with 97 games played, third-most of any St. Louisan. King played high school soccer at Nerinx Hall and college soccer (and one season of basketball) at Auburn University.
