Reedy Press author Dave Lange and St. Louis CITY Soccer Club play-by-play announcer Joey Zanaboni will cover the rich history of soccer in St. Louis, the nation’s first soccer capital, at the Kirkwood Public Library. Discussion will range from the sport’s beginnings in St. Louis in the early 1870s, to soccer’s development in making St. Louis the home of almost 80 U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Team players, and conclude with the rise of St. Louis CITY SC. Book-signing and book sales of “Year One: St. Louis CITY SC,” will follow the presentation. A limited number of copies of the second edition of “Soccer Made in St. Louis: A History of the Game in America’s First Soccer Capital,” also will be available. Both books are written by Lange and printed by Reedy Press. Zanaboni wrote the foreword to “Year One.” This event is free and open to the public.
